That true masculine courage only comes in the form of toughness and bravery in the face of danger, is a limiting and dangerous frame for defining manhood. It takes courage to connect with other human beings. It takes courage to listen to and respect people from different cultures, different genders, different religions. It takes courage to be compassionate. Men who write to pander to man box culture notions of masculinity will always be best sellers. But they will also promote a culture in which men are disposable and disconnected.
